Friendly Planet Missiology is a growing network of missiologists (Congolese and American) committed to empowering and equipping community leaders--particularly those working in the heart of The United Methodist Church's North Katanga Area in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
Each year we travel as a team by bicycle and boat aprox 2,000 kilometers into the heart of Katanga, visiting communities that suffered greatly in the recent war. Out of these visits has emerged several initiatives (such as the building of a nursing and midwife school) led by Congolese missiologists on the ground.
The arrival of a Friendly Planet team serves as a symbol of hope to those who feel abandoned: "Your visit is a consolation to a destroyed and a forgotten community" declared a women in the Katelwa church.
The Friendly Planet News blog tells some of the stories of these adventures and ways you can support this vital ministry.
Friendly Planet was founded by Rev. Dr. Robert Walters (aka 'Biking Bob') and Rev. Taylor Denyer. To learn more about our work and adventures, visit our website and follow us on Facebook.
